Why recorded videos are converted?

By default, Screenpresso compresses video using its own and non standard video encoder named SPV1.

This one is specific to video capture:

it does not reduce image quality (lossless) with enough to reduce disk usage
it does not use too much processor time during video recording

If you want to send your video to someone, you should let Screenpresso automatically convert the video to a smaller and standard format. Supported outputs are MP4, GIF, WMV, WebM and OGG.

Starting from Windows 8, Screenpresso features a Direct MP4 recording option. It requires more computer power and the quality is a bit lower than the standard recording but there is no postprocessing step after the capture and it uses less disk space. It is recommended for a long video recording.
